Dr. Marc Dean: Telemedicine Is Here to Stay

Dr. Marc Dean is a board-certified otolaryngologist, commonly known as an Ear, Nose and Throat (ENT) specialist with a long and successful background in the telemedicine industry. He attended Baylor University for his undergraduate studies in bioinformatics and earned his medical degree from Texas Tech University Health Science Center.

New and innovative technology has always been a passion of Dr. Dean. He is known in the medical community for his work in telemedicine and integrating new technologies into the practice of medicine. He founded the Otorhinologic Research Institute, a nonprofit organization that focuses on the development of new treatments for ear, sinus and eustachian tube disorders, with a focus on tying technology into modern healthcare.

With his passion for advancing technology, Dr. Dean has expanded his practice’s telehealth services during the COVID-19 pandemic and is looking forward to continuing these services long after the outbreak has settled.

Outside of his medical practice, Dr. Dean has engaged in several sustainable mission trips utilizing telehealth. He has helped establish a hospital that uses telemedicine technology to treat Syrian refugees as well as training Iraqi doctors. While Iraqi physicians are able to observe and learn from Dr. Dean’s surgical procedures through streaming technology, he can also watch their surgical procedures and help advise the doctors on best practices.

While telemedicine has allowed Dr. Dean to help others learn from his expertise from across the world, he is very excited about expanding telehealth within his own practice for his patients. Patients can now have virtual appointments with Dr. Dean over HIPAA-compliant video streams for any of their ENT needs.

Remote technologies, such as telemedicine, are essential to public health during the COVID-19 period. As telehealth regulations have relaxed during this time, telemedicine has been increasingly available. Dr. Dean believes that with the use of telemedicine, he can help his patients through any situation, allowing him to evaluate and treat them when they need him most.
