Injecting fillers

Fillers may be injected into the area surrounding the eustachian tubes to encourage them to remain closed. Fillers keep the surrounding tissues of the eustachian tube plump, helping them to only open when required for equalizing pressure or assisting in drainage.

Shim Placement

A shim is a small device inserted into patulous eustachian tubes to act as a wedge. This implant works to lessen the debilitating symptoms associated with patulous eustachian tubes such as autophony and tinnitus.

Reconstruction of Cartilaginous Eustachian Tube

A Eustachian tube that unnecessarily remains open can be reconstructed using endoscopic transnasal surgery. This operation helps the eustachian tube stay in a closed position, where it should rest most of the time.
