Cysts appear on the ear when too much oil and dry skin cells builds up underneath the skin on the ear. One of the most common ear cysts is sebaceous.

Signs that you may have a cyst include pain and small lumps behind or in front of the ear. If you have a benign ear tumor you will typically experience discomfort in the ear, hearing loss and constant outer ear infections.

Treatment
If the cyst does not cause pain or effects hearing, then treatment is not necessary.
However, if the cyst becomes painful, there is a possibility of an infection. Surgery might become necessary if the tumor is painful and interferes with hearing and ear infections.

Benign ear tumors result from excess bone growth.
