Three million Americans are affected by otosclerosis. It is an autosomal disease that causes abnormal bone growth in the middle ear. The hearing bone is located in the middle and inner part of the ear.  When it is affected it causes hearing loss.

Someone with otosclerosis will experience ringing in the ear(Tinnitus), dizziness and blurred vision(vertigo), and slow hearing loss as symptoms. Eventually,This is thought to be a genetic disorder. Caucasian, middle-aged women are the most at risk for having this disorder.
