What is swimmer’s ear?

Swimmer’s ear is an inflammation of the ear canal.  This inflammation occurs in mainly children and young adults who tend to swim a lot. But if there is dampness in the canal, swimmer’s ear is a possible reaction. An excess of moisture in the ear can turn into this painful swimmer’s ear.

Symptoms

  • Itchy ear
  • Watery discharge from eyes
  • Pain and tenderness in the ear
  • Yellow & smelling discharge from ear
  • Muffled ears on and off

Treatment

Swimmer’s ear is not dangerous and ends up going away after a few days of starting treatment. However, if left untreated, the infection can become more painful and spread. The doctor will clean out your ears through a series of different steps. Depending on how sever the case is, the doctor also might prescribe antibiotics.
